Cabrillo Marine Aquarium (CMA)

The CMA is an educational, recreational and research facility that encourages public participation in promoting knowledge and conservation of Southern California’s marine life. It has provided marine education for more than 60 years, and is a facility of the City of Los Angeles, Department of Recreation and Parks. Located on the shore at Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro—within walking distance of some of the more contaminated fishing areas—CMA is dedicated to providing a useful, real-world understanding of the marine environment and is committed to serving as a key source of information concerning coastal DDT, PCB and mercury contamination and the associated health risks. CMA serves as the lead collaborator and principal implementing agency for the fish contamination exhibit design and installation.
