State & Federal Agencies
Environmental Health Investigations Branch (EHIB), California
Department of Health Services (CDHS)
The mission of the Environmental Health Investigations Branch within CDHS is to protect the health of Californians by assessing the association between health outcomes and the environment, as well as collaborating with communities to address their environmental concerns. EHIB assists communities in several areas of the state by assessing exposures to contaminated fish and developing outreach and education programs. EHIB traditionally works closely with local, state and federal health and environmental agencies to provide technical assistance, consultation and program oversight. EHIB staff played a central role in establishing the Seafood Contamination Task Force, as well as its predecessor, the Pilot Project Task Force.
