What Fish are Safe to Eat?

Determining which fish are safe to eat depends on the area where they are caught. Fishing areas in the red zone include Santa Monica Pier, Venice Pier, Hermosa Beach Pier, Redondo Beach Pier, Cabrillo Pier, Pier J, Rainbow Harbor, Belmont Pier, and Seal Beach Pier. Fishing areas in the yellow zone include piers in Ventura, Malibu, Huntington Beach, and San Mateo Point.

Refer to the map below to help minimize health risks associated with exposure to DDT and PCBs found in fish commonly caught off the coast. Health problems associated with exposure to these chemicals include cancer, liver damage, and negative impacts on the nervous and reproductive systems.
