Outreach & Education

Angler Outreach

Local organizations, including the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, implement the FCEC’s angler outreach component. These partners educate pier and shoreline anglers in Los Angeles and Orange Counties on the risks of consuming contaminated fish, particularly white croaker. The FCEC works to protect the public and support the angling community through ongoing education. Outreach is conducted in multiple languages to effectively reach the diverse communities in the area.

The FCEC focuses outreach efforts on nine piers in the contaminated region:

Through this program, the FCEC reaches thousands of anglers. Additionally, the angler outreach program distributes information to local bait shops and fishing supply stores near the piers.
